Dr. Beth Nelms brings a deep and diverse academic background to her veterinary practice. She earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 2009, preceded by a Master’s in Laboratory Animal Science (MLAS) from Drexel College of Medicine in 2005, and a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from Cornell University in 2003.

Her relationship with Manheim Pike Veterinary Hospital runs deep - she began working summers as a veterinary assistant from 2000 to 2003, and returned to the practice full-time as a veterinarian in 2012. Today, Dr. Nelms provides thoughtful, compassionate care to both dogs and cats, building trusted relationships with families and their pets through every stage of life.

Her strengths? Compassion, a great sense of humor, and, according to her, the uncanny ability to cry at the smallest thing (a relatable superpower for many!).

When she’s not in the clinic, Dr. Nelms is often indulging in her love of travel and baseball, especially if it involves catching a Phillies game or combining both passions. Her pantry staples? Pretzels and gummy candy, probably in full Phillies regalia. Her most unforgettable trip was to Cancún, Mexico for her cousin’s wedding, a joyful time shared with family. If she could jump on a plane today, she’d head to the Maldives.

A huge fan of ice cream, her current favorite is Mango Sticky Rice from Fox Meadows, though she admits it might change at any moment. Her go-to karaoke anthem? “Don’t Stop Believin’.” On Sunday mornings, you’ll likely find her on the way to a Phillies game in the summer or grabbing brunch and hanging out with her dog during the off-season.

This year, Dr. Nelms is focused on practicing more self-love and quieting her inner critic, a goal that resonates with many. She’s happiest either traveling or cheering from the stands, and even better when she can do both.

Dr. Nelms is proud to be part of the MPVH family, where she brings warmth, expertise, and heart to every patient she treats.
